A Moment of Clarity

Image
The raindrops seem to be in a race with time, Cascading down the surface until it’s time to bind, bind once again becoming a part of a cycle that has no end. There is one on its own clock, longingly sliding in no rush to rejoin the fray, almost as if it wants to stay away. Stay on its own, exploring the new. In some ways, this raindrop is you. Slow and timid, weightless and pure, flowing and free. Poet reflection: Writing this poem was like exhaling for the first time in a long time. It made me realize how easy it is to be so wrapped up in life, love, careers, and family that we never take the time to slow down and enjoy the pleasure of just being. I heard a quote that really stuck with me. It goes, "Life isn't about how many breaths you take, it's about the moments that take your breath away." If we are always trying to beat time at its own race before we know it, the moments that mattered would have gone, and the only proof you have is the air in your lungs. Ch...

Only The Thorns Remember

Image
Garden of thorn’s Once overpowered by the potent smell of roses and trees, Filled with honey and bees, Littered with laughter and love, Bathed in sunlight, Kissed by sweet rain. I'm not sure about you, but that seems insane to me. I'm telling you this fact because if you are like me, most of the time your thoughts are a storm of what-ifs. Now, there is a reason our brain does this; the simple answer is control. Everyone wants to be in control of their own life, so when we make a decision that we are unsure of, all we can think about is "what if I didn't do that?" "What if I do this instead?" It's our mind's way of making predictions so we can be prepared for the situations we can't control. Under most circumstances, asking what if isn't a bad thing, as it can help you figure out what the next best course of action will be for you. The ...
