I stand tall— nothing new, I stand all day long. Though I stay in one place, I’ve seen so many things: countless birds playing in the breeze, the changing colors on the leaves, all kinds of critters living amongst me. Please don’t fret, for I am happy to share— better to have chaos around than lonely despair. There are days when it feels I’m all alone, when the birds fly away or the critters find a new home. When the sun sets for the day and the moon finally goes to sleep, I’m left here— left to just be. Standing tall is all I seem to do— no dancing for me, no adventures coming soon, no seeing the ocean come into view. I wish I could get up— just get up and go, run as fast as I can to see what this world holds. Though I may reach heights that go to the sky, my long-stretched arms still can’t fly.
